How to Sell Websites at Maximum Value

If you want to know how to sell your website successfully, this article is for you. The most important of aspect of the website selling process is the due diligence and attention to detail that is required for assessing the websites. Though obviously the buyer will be doing all that he can to know as much as he can to glean some knowledge of the site worth he or she is going to buy, there is a lot that even the person selling websites needs to do.

The first obvious task is to forecast or make a projection on what the buyer will try to check and know while checking your site. This helps you in planning and preparing a market strategy and a website selling pitch. It is always helpful to know the requirements and queries of your buyer so that you have all information related to selling website and answers ready beforehand.

Performing Due Diligence Check

Website due diligence is the preliminary research that a buyer does before buying the website. Due diligence is also conducted by the seller at his end when he decided to sell website. This research includes confirmation about both the asset being sold and the current owner of the asset. This research helps the buyer in assessing the capabilities and value of the site. The enquiries can range from information about the website seller, how accounts are handled, resources staffed on the ongoing project so that the complete impact on the business can be understood.

Website Buyers Concerns and Questions

One of the first things the buyer will like to know are the aspects of the ownership. They will like to know the complete professional background of the person they are doing business with i.e. the person who wants to sell the website in question. This will include the ownership of the domains, the sub-domains and the content of the website.

This is also important from the copyright point of view as everything included in the website i.e. the text, the images, the code and the scripts. You should be clear and forthcoming in giving these details to the potential buyer while selling websites. This will help the buyer in building confidence in you and your content.

The next thing the buyer will ask is the history of the domain. Is it a fresh domain with the first owner or has been transacted upon a number of times? What is the historical reputation of the website and has it faced any problems in the past?

If you are able to provide these details to the buyer beforehand and frankly, you will be able to build a lot of trust with the buyer and close the website selling deal without any hassles.

Where to sell your website

Regarding where to sell your site, carry out an online research to find sites that lists sites that are up for sale. Businessforsale.com is one such website. There are many more website selling and buying sites. You can get your site listed. Some website selling sites are paid while others are free.

Give out details of your asking price, reasons for selling and any other important details when listing your site for sale. Soon you will be approached by interested website buyers and then you can proceed accordingly.
