The 3-in-1 Kayo Maxtar 11000mAh Power Bank, USB Charger and LED Light is a superb product for the investment. It has fast charge USB port for mobile phones, tablets and portable devices, LED with static or emergency light and it’s a fully competent car battery starter for petrol or diesel cars. This product comes with superb box packaging which would make a really good gift.I’m an auto-electrician by trade, so batteries, alternators, power packs and chargers are second nature to me. What’s great about this new generation of power pack, AKA power bank, is the physical size to capacity ratio. Previously you would need to purchase the standard type of car charger/power pack with a large plastic body and handle with thick jumper cables, or/ a robust set of 5M jump leads, which were both very heavy and consumed a lot of space, not ideal to be carried in the car continuously. This power bank lives in the boot permanently.
The 11000mAh power bank is large capacity and is tiny (L151 x W70 x H31 mm) in comparison to the older type of power packs. Although the jumper leads are not as thick, I can absolutely guarantee it works and it starts flat batteries. I’ve only tested it on a 1.6 and it started first time at the turn of the key. This was a fully discharged car battery, not a faulty battery. I’ve used it about 10 times in the last 6 months on a car I don’t drive that often, so the battery discharges after being sat for long periods without a run.I went for the high capacity power bank as it also claims to start diesel vehicles which have larger capacity batteries, so all vehicles are covered. I recall the product description saying the charge lasts about 3 months between charges. I’ve charged device once, which from memory took about 1-2 hours, and that’s with the 10 starts of the flat battery. You can charge via 230v mains (it is european plug, so you will need converter) or in-car via a cigar lighter socket (both charge leads included). How to Start a Car with a Flat Battery: On the Kayo Maxtar power bank device lift the rubber flap from the lead outlet (be careful not to lose it) and connect the red/black jumper leads into the socket > turn the power switch on > press the charge button to ensure you have at least 2 blue LED’s lit out of the 4 (indicates enough charge) > connect leads to car battery (red to +, black to -) > start car > disconnect pack from car within 30 seconds.
Included Leads and Adapters:
You get 2 leads to charge your devices:
1) USB to Micro USB, Mini USB, Apple iPhone, iPad.
2) Laptop charge lead plus various size adapters (none fit my Dell XPS15 unfortunately). The device has an integrated LED with 3 settings: Off > Static > Flashing > SOS. Everything fits in a polyester case with zip fasten.
In summary: I was sceptical prior to purchase but the hassle it’s saved with quick flat-battery starts, I can’t speak highly enough about it. Just a great evolution on the older versions of power pack.
