I eventually got a refund after about 20 + days. It took a lot of emails.Bought Bitdefender IS 2014 over the Black Friday weekend on Special – wish I hadn’t bothered. My machine: W8 Pro, i3, 16GB RAM, Samsung Pro SSD. First install got the BSOD (Blue Screen Crash in Windows), the error was WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Emailed support for advice and next day tried again. This time got a different BSOD error: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_ERROR. I gave up and emailed support requesting an immediate refund – A BSOD on a new software install is not a good sign. And who has the time to run diagnostics on such a thing?
This is the Warning Part: Avangate, apparently the affiliate and/or payment processor for Bitdefender (I’m not entirely sure, but they are in cahoots) and Bitdefender have both been abysmal in the department of communication and support. Avangate (who I paid) refused the refund and Bitdefender have now lost interest. We are now at 10 emails and 10 days since refund request, and although a refund was promised on day one by Bitdefender – still no refund. If you do decide to take out Bitdefender software online also be wary of an “Auto-Renew” feature which apparently is hidden in the fine print and apparently slaps you for excess of $100. Search online and you’ll see many a problem with this and other Avangate / Bitdefender issues.I’ve been online since 1998 and never ran into this particular duplicity before. And I’ve very rarely experienced such a dishonest trail of responses from customer support. All very odd.
